Review by: Shane Keller
How do you describle one man's work when he has accomplished the work of ten men?
The answer is listen to Geoffrey Armes and his album 'Ambient Black'!
When I listened to the first song on the 7 track 'Ambient Black' album I wasn't sure what to make of it.
But then I skipped to track 2 and listened closely to what Armes was doing.
A digjeredu, a talking drum, guitars, a djembe, keyboards and bass sounded like a music artist filled with inspiration that had a seemingly magical quality to it.
Layer after layer appeared as each track played. When the CD reached 'Only You Dub' I was entranced and impressed by Armes ability to smoothly blend all his instruments so well.
My favorite tracks by far are 4, 5 and 6.
The 'Ambient Black' album is a true example of musical artistry. Amres has the talent and sounds of David Bryne, Paul Simon and Brian Eno.
This CD is best enjoyed while spending time with close friends, chilling out after midnight or fixing your computer.
